Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosures (Distance Education)
San Diego State University (SDSU) and SDSU Global Campus are required to disclose whether certain academic programs meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in U.S. states and territories. These disclosures apply to programs that are intended to lead to licensure/certification or are commonly pursued for licensure/certification.
Licensure and certification requirements vary by jurisdiction and may change. Completing an academic program is often only one step toward licensure/certification and may also require additional requirements such as examinations, supervised clinical/practice hours, background checks, and/or other state-specific requirements.
SDSU’s Determination Categories
For each licensure-pathway program, SDSU provides one of the following determinations for each state/territory:
- Meets educational requirements: SDSU has determined that the program curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure/certification in the listed jurisdiction(s), as of the date posted.
- Does not meet educational requirements: SDSU has determined that the program curriculum does not meet the educational requirements for licensure/certification in the listed jurisdiction(s).
- Not determined / unable to determine: SDSU has not yet made a determination, or cannot confirm whether the program meets educational requirements for licensure/certification in the listed jurisdiction(s).
Student Responsibility and Relocation
Students are responsible for confirming current licensure/certification requirements with the applicable licensing board in the jurisdiction where they intend to seek licensure/certification. If a student relocates to another state/territory during the program, licensure eligibility may be affected and students should contact the program immediately.
State Authorization is Separate
State authorization (SDSU’s ability to enroll and provide distance education to students based on location) is separate from professional licensure determinations. Students should also review SDSU Global Campus’ State Authorization Status information.
